SecuRun - Offline-First QR Event Check-In & Attendance Tracker

Offline-first QR-code event check-in and attendance platform for sports and running events. Operators scan participant QR codes (bib numbers) at entry points to verify, approve and reject attendance, store records locally on-device, and securely sync them to a central REST API when connectivity returns.

01 Overview

Offline-first QR-code event check-in and attendance platform for sports and running events. Operators scan participant QR codes (bib numbers) at entry points to verify, approve and reject attendance, store records locally on-device, and securely sync them to a central REST API when connectivity returns.

Scope of delivery

Developed the SecuRun Flutter mobile application, an offline-first event check-in tool that lets operators scan participants' QR codes to approve or reject race attendance. Built the device-activation login flow (including a Chrome/Safari in-app webview), an SQLite persistence layer for users, attendance and QR scan records, and background-fetch syncing so attendance data is captured reliably even with no network coverage.

02 Business Challenge

Delivering a production-grade Security Mobile App system required coordinated engineering, integrations, and reliable release workflows.

03 Our Solution

Engineered a local-first architecture using the sqflite database (securun.db) with a sync-status flag, so every scan is recorded offline and queued for server sync. Integrated the qr_code_scanner SDK for live card scanning, background_fetch for scheduled/manual syncing after app termination, and paired the client with the SecuRun REST API for device activation, athlete data download, and attendance sync.
